The Flying Pirate Half Marathon & First Flight 5K 

JOIN US - APRIL 22 & 23, 2017

Flying Pirate Half Marathon - Sunday April 23
First Flight 5K - Saturday April 22
Double Dare Challenge - Both Days! ARRRGGGH!

CORRALS: Runners must Start in your assigned corral.
Results are based on gun time.

TRAIL PORTION: Around mile 10, you’ll enter the Nags Head Woods Nature Preserve. This lush maritime forest will amaze you with its understated beauty. All the beauty of trail running, along a mulched, dirt road. At about mile 12, you’ll leave Nags Head Woods on a narrow trail with off-road conditions. Mulch/Sand/Dirt.

GEAR BAG SERVICE for Half Marathon runners.
Bring a change of clothes with you to the Start, turn them over to UPS, and UPS will have them waiting for you at the Finish. Please arrive within 20 - 30 minutes of the Start to take advantage of this service.

BYOB
Bring Your Own Bag! UPS will be at the Start to collect your bag and transport your gear to the Finish. Use the tear-off label from your race bib to I.D. your bag ( ties provided at the EXPO). Please use a closeable bag, like a small duffel bag or backpack (zippered, drawstring, keeping the size to 16"x 20" or less).

FUEL & PIT STOPS
Water/Gatorade Stations 
Water will be available at mile marker 3, 6, 9, and 11.
Gatorade will be available at mile marker 3, 6 and 9.

Energy Gels
Assorted flavors of  Gu energy gels and Gu Chomps will be provided at mile marker 6 and 9.

Port-a-Johns
Provided at the Start, the Finish and at mile marker 3, 4, 6, 8.5, 10 and 11.

MEDICAL
Medical Aid Stations will be at milemarkers 3, 4, 6, 8.5, 9, 11 and the Finish.

Can’t Finish?  
Please call or ask a volunteer to call 911 if you are in need of immediate medical assistance.  First Aid tents will be located along the course. In a non-emergency situation, call (252) 423-1537 to arrange complimentary transportation.

WHERE'D THEY GO?
Lost & Found:
All lost and found items, excluding discarded clothing along the course, will be taken to the Volunteer Check In room at the Post Race Jamboree. A phone number will be provided on our Map & Info sheet that will be in your race bag.  NOTE: Discarded clothing along the course will be thrown away or donated.

Road Race Tip:
If you plan to wear a jacket or pants over your running gear to the start of the race, but you will want to remove them after you warm up, then either use the Gear Bag Service at the Start, or go to the thrift store and buy these items. Any items left on the course will be discarded or donated.

Family Reunion Area:
Family members and friends can meet up with runners at the Information tent, located near the Finish.  A phone number will be provided on our Map & Info sheet that will be in your race bag.
